Electrical Department

About the department

The electrical department has existed in the      college since its inception.  The institute started as a technical high school back in 1978 with electrical being offered as one of the subjects then.  When  8-4-4 system was rolled out in 1989, then Kitale Technical High School was transformed to a   Technical Training Institute (Kitale Technical Training Institute (KTTI).  The electrical section was     maintained under the umbrella of the technical        department.  The electrical section of the college started by offering certificate courses in electrical, artisan and electrical craft as advised by the Kenya Institute of Education (KIE).

In 1997, the department rolled out the electrical diploma course (TEP) having dropped the artisan course due to logistical challenges.  The department has currently expanded to offer craft certificate courses and diploma courses in power, instrumentation & Telecommunication options in the module programs.  The student population has grown from approximately 50 in the 90s to around 400 currently, alongside the trainers and the facilities.

The department under the college administration partners with KNEC, TSC, NITA, government and private institutions to pursue and achieve its     objectives.
